📌 Structure: Subject + am/is/are + past participle (present passive)
Past passive: Subject + was/were + past participle
Use: when the action is more important than who does it, or the doer is unknown.

4. Reading: Our Planet Needs Help
Our planet is in danger. Every day, thousands of trees are cut down due to deforestation. Millions of tonnes of plastic waste are dumped into the oceans. As a result, many marine species are being threatened with extinction.
Global warming is causing ice caps to melt and sea levels to rise. These changes are caused mainly by greenhouse gases such as CO₂ and methane, which are released by burning fossil fuels.
However, there is hope. Renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power are being used more and more. Forests are being planted in many countries. If we all act together, our planet can be saved.
