4. Reading: A Visit to the Art Gallery
Last week, our class visited the city art gallery. It was an amazing experience. The first thing I saw was a large oil portrait of an old man with a long beard. The composition was perfect and the texture of the paint was incredible.
In the next room, there were several landscape paintings. My favourite was a watercolour of a mountain at sunset. The artist had used beautiful shades of orange and pink to show the light — very similar to the Impressionist style of Monet.
There was also a small room dedicated to sculpture. In the centre stood a marble figure of a dancer, very much in the style of a Renaissance masterpiece. Our teacher said that art is not just about beauty — it is about expressing emotions and telling stories. I completely agree!
